Dr Jade Young

PSH+W FOUNDER

Prairie Sky Health and Wellness was founded by Dr. Jade Young, a Métis physician with roots in Eriksdale, Manitoba. Our clinic was created to provide accessible, community-centered care that reflects the strength and values of the people who call the Interlake home.

  • Dr. Jade Young trained at the University of Manitoba Max Rady College of Medicine and graduated from the Northern and Remote Family Medicine Program in 2021. Her practice has been shaped by a deep commitment to northern and rural communities across Manitoba.

  • Through Ongomiizwin Health Services (OHS), Dr. Young has provided emergency and primary care in the remote fly-in communities of Garden Hill First Nation and Red Sucker Lake First Nation. She continues to work clinically with OHS and currently serves as Chief of Staff for the Island Lakes communities of Red Sucker Lake, Wasagamack, Garden Hill, and St. Theresa Point First Nations.

  • Within the Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA), Dr. Young has served in Eriksdale, Lundar, and Lake Manitoba First Nation. Her experience includes emergency medicine and hospitalist work at E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital, primary care at Eriksdale Wellness Centre and Lake Manitoba Health Centre, and support for both the Lundar and Eriksdale Personal Care Homes.

  • With a passionate team and strong community partnerships, Dr. Young is proud to present Prairie Sky Health and Wellness—a clinic built to serve, support, and celebrate the communities of Manitoba’s Interlake region.

OUR MISSION

What do we hope to accomplish?

At Prairie Sky Health and Wellness, we hope to establish a model of care that our communities can be proud of–a model of care that will start to bridge the gaps between existing health systems. This model will include both onsite work and outreach to communities that are currently underserviced.

NORTHERN MANITOBA

Why are we here?

The northern half of the Interlake is a special place. Its landscape is lush rolling fields, interrupted by diverse forestry and abundant freshwater lakes, all beneath our gorgeous ever-changing sky.

Our sky; by day a vibrant blue or moody greys, morphing into a vibrant sunset painted in reds and purples and oranges, before being blanketing by endless stars.

This beautiful place is home to hard working people who have the capacity for humbling generosity and kindness. People who are innovative and brave. It is a place and a people that I am proud of.

It is a place and a people that anyone would be lucky to belong to.
